Outline of the travel itinerary:

This sailing and walking trip departs in Oban and ends in Troon. Both places are easily accessible by train from Glasgow.

Oban is a larger regional town and offers plenty of entertainment. From McCaig's tower, above the town, you have great views over the harbor, the bay beyond and the Isle of Mull. You will find several fish restaurants along the harbor and between the station and the ferry terminal you can enjoy freshly prepared shellfish. So it is definitely worth arriving a day earlier.

The final route to Troon is of course very dependent on the wind and current at that time. But on every possible route of this trip, Scotland shows off its beautiful islands and spectacular coastlines. During the trip we try to divide the sailing and walking as evenly as possible. The captain and the guide always coordinate this with each other.

Although the islands show great similarities geographically, we will discover that each island, or any coastal town, has its own beauty, depending on its location and the influences of the relentless wind from the ocean. During the trip you will become acquainted with the great diversity of nature in this Scottish region.

Sketch of this journey and its destinations:

Subject to the above reservations we can get acquainted with, among others, the following islands and moorings:

After leaving cozy Oban we sail through the Sound of Mull to Tobermory, on the island of Mull. Then you can walk to the Tobermory lighthouse or through the Aros nature park. Both walks offer breathtaking views of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula coastline opposite.

Next, on the island of Tiree we can look for the Ringing Stone and the ancient shelter of Dun Mor Vaul. This is a long walk on flat terrain through peatlands and along beaches.

We find very different nature on the island of Colonsay via a challenging walk with two views. We also pass the ruins of the abandoned village of Riasg Buidhe.

On the island of Islay we have the choice to visit one or more of the famous whisky distilleries, take the walk to the Carraig Fhada Lighthouse and the adjacent Singing Sands or simply take the bus to the town of Bowmore. The visits to the distilleries are on your own but the guide can explain everything about it to you.

After the visit to Islay, depending on the time available, you can visit the Mull of Kintire peninsula and the town of Campbeltown. Campbeltown is a lively town and offers beautiful walks.

Even if we are forced to follow a different route to Troon, the guide knows where to find excellent hiking opportunities, natural beauty and Scottish culture.

The journey ends in Troon. From there you have the opportunity to take the train to your new destination.
