Ship's Log Thalassa

Thalassa was in Southampton for the famous Boat Show. Soon she will return to her home port in Harlingen, where she will be refitted for the annual 'School at Sea' project with students. Meanwhile, we have also been busy onshore and have put together a wonderful sailing program that will start by the end of April 2025. One of the trips we would like to highlight in this edition of our newsletter is the adventurous voyage from Aberdeen to Kristiansand.

Sail Along with the Tall Ships Races 2025!

Dates: July 21 - August 1, 2025

From Aberdeen (Scotland) to Kristiansand (Norway), this trip offers a breathtaking combination of competition and relaxation on open sea.

A Unique Mix of Young and Old on Board

On board, you will find a colourful mix of young and old, ranging from 15 to 75 years. With 50% younger participants and 50% older sailors, this creates a harmonious and inspiring atmosphere where every adventure on board is a chance to learn from each other and grow together.

No sailing experience is required, but good physical health is essential for the adventure that awaits you.

Aberdeen, the "Silver City with Golden Sands," offers a historic retreat where time seems to stand still. Here you will find a blend of rich culture and vibrant festivities, accompanied by the warm hospitality of historic pubs.
In Stavanger, where the fjords glisten like jewels and the cliffs seem to touch the sky, you will discover the raw beauty and timeless charm of Norwegian nature.
Egersund, with its calming atmosphere and expansive sea views, offers a moment of serenity in a picturesque harbor town where time seems to slow down.
In Flekkefjord, with its quaint wooden houses and winding streets, you’ll experience a nostalgic touch that will stay with you for a long time.
And as the crowning glory of your adventure, you will arrive in Kristiansand, the "Honolulu of Norway," where stunning sandy beaches, lively markets, and charming neighbourhoods will complete your journey.

Please note: All destinations are dependent on the whims of wind and weather, making each port stop a surprise.

• 11 days on board, with all meals and drinks during meals (coffee, tea, milk, and water).
• Accommodation in comfortable shared 2-person cabins, complete with bedding and towels.

• Embarkation: July 21, 2025, at 17:00 in Aberdeen.
• Disembarkation: August 1, 2025, at 10:00 in Kristiansand.
• The official language on board is English.
• Passengers must be in good physical health and have valid health and travel insurance.
• Drinks at the bar and transport to/from the ports are not included.

Our Scotland Journeys in 2025

In 2025, we once again have a number of beautiful trips planned in Scotland. Our whisky experts Bob Wenting, Joris Dam, Wouter Wapenaar, and hiking guide Gerard Spaans will also be on board with us in 2025 to provide our guests with their extensive whisky knowledge and stunning hiking routes.

The Nautical Festivals in 2025

Thalassa will participate in two prestigious nautical festivals: Sail Bremerhaven and Sail Amsterdam. These iconic events attract tens of thousands of visitors annually and provide a spectacular stage for a fleet of impressive tall ships, historical vessels, and modern sailing yachts. In both Bremerhaven and Amsterdam, we will be part of the festive parades and activities, celebrating maritime heritage and the art of sailing in all its glory. This unique experience promises to be a highlight for both our crew and the visitors to the festivals.

The three-masted barquentine Thalassa is an exceptionally strong, seaworthy ship. With her 16 sails she is an impressive sight on the horizon. Sailing on the Thalassa means relaxation, luxury and adventure, all at the same time. An experienced crew, an excellently equipped accommodation and the culinary surprises served on board, guarantee you a wonderful trip. During her sailing trips Thalassa can receive 30 persons. NOTE: For all our trips and their programs the wind and weather conditions apply!

Tall Ship Thalassa is an exceptionally comfortable ship, ideal for receptions and parties on board thanks to the spacious saloon and the covered afterdeck. The ship offers space for 140 guests
