The sailing voyage begins in the Faroe Islands and ends in Scotland. You must arrange your own travel to the Faroe Islands and from Scotland. This is NOT included in the price. Itinerary
For the first time, Thalassa sets sail for the Faroe Islands—a destination renowned for its dramatic coastlines, small fishing villages and towering cliffs teeming with seabirds. This voyage promises to be a pioneering journey where the elements will guide us to some of the most breathtaking hiking trails before we cross the sea to Scotland.
Our adventure begins in Tórshavn, the charming capital of the Faroe Islands. In the harbour colorful boats bob on the water and the narrow streets, lined with turf-roofed houses, create a unique and welcoming atmosphere. From here we will sail deeper into the archipelago.
Along the way we may stop at Klaksvík or Fuglafjørður, picturesque fishing villages nestled between fjords—perfect spots to experience the raw beauty of the Faroese landscape and admire the majestic fjords up close.
We continue our voyage past the dramatic cliffs of Kallur Lighthouse on Kalsoy, where the vast ocean stretches endlessly to the horizon. The Vestmanna bird cliffs emerge in the distance, echoing with the calls of seabirds as they soar against the towering rock faces. This region is a paradise for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Further south, the jagged peaks of Tindhólmur rise from the sea like a natural beacon, reminding us that here nature sets the course and we simply follow.
The islands of Sandoy and Suðuroy offer a different atmosphere—rolling green hills, historic farms and villages where time seems to stand still. Here we will enjoy peaceful walks through the countryside and immerse ourselves in the traditional Faroese way of life.
When the time is right, we will embark on our crossing to Scotland. Depending on the weather conditions we may head toward the Outer Hebrides where Stornoway welcomes us with its rich Gaelic culture and strong maritime traditions. If the winds are in our favor we may even visit St Kilda, an abandoned island group with an almost mythical presence where only seabirds and the wind remain to guard the remnants of an ancient civilization.
The Scottish coast is as wild as it is mysterious. We may anchor at Tarbert on Harris, known for its white sandy beaches and rugged mountains, or at Talisker on Skye, famous for its whisky and dramatic landscapes. The colorful waterfront of Tobermory on Mull will greet us with its cheerful hues—a striking contrast to the untamed wilderness of the islands. Finally, after a journey full of unforgettable moments, we will sail into Oban where the scent of freshly smoked fish and fine Scottish whisky fills the air and we reflect on an adventure that will stay with us forever.
