WHISKY SAILING CRUISES 2019

Whisky sailing cruise 1  May 18 - May 25

Start: Oban, Scotland, 14.00, Saturday May 18, 2019
End: Troon, Scotland, 10.00, Saturday May 25, 2019

Price:  € 1,200 p.p. LAST MINUTE PRICE € 1099,-,-
Price is based on the division of 2 persons into a double cabin. If you want to book the cabin for 1 person, the travel sum is € 1.700, -.  

The travel sum is inclusive:
- 7 overnight stays on board in a double cabin with private shower;
- all meals during the trip (breakfast, lunch and dinner);
- Non-alcoholic drinks with meals (coffee, tea, milk and water);
- 1 whiskytasting on board, accompanied by a whiskey expert.

Not included:
- all other non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks (beer, wine and whisky);
- entry tickets for visits to the various distilleries;
- Extra excursions ashore. The costs for the different excursions amount to approx. € 100, - per person in total (participation is not mandatory).

The sailing voyage begins and ends in Scotland. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to Scotland. This is NOT included in the price

 The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 28 persons during this journey, there are only a few cabins left!

16.00h: Departure to Tobermory

20.00h: Arrival at Tobermory

Sunday the 19th of May:

10.00h: Visit of Tobermory Distillery

11.30h: Departure to Ardnamurchan

13.00h: Visit Ardnamurchan distillery

16.00h: Departure to Jura

Overnight stay in the bay of Jura

 

Monday the 20th of May:

10.00h: Visit Jura Distillery

12.00h: Departure to Islay

17.00h: Arrival Port Ellen

Facultative program: Ardbeg evening tour

Tuesday the 21st of May:

10.00h: Visit distilleries of choice (Bowmore, Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroaig etc.)

14.00h: visit Ardnahoe visitors centre and distillery

Wednesday the 22nd of May: 

09.00h: Departure to Ballycastle

13.00h: Arrival at Ballycastle

Visit Bushmills and/or Giant Causeway

Thursday the 23rd of May:

09.00h: Departure to Campbeltown

14.00h Arrival at Campbeltown

Campbeltown whiskyfestival, Springbank and Glen Scotia distillery

Overnight stay in the port of Campbeltown

 

Friday the 24th of May:

10.00h: Visit Glen Scotia distillery

12.00h: Departure to Arran

15.00h: Visit Arran distillery

16.30h: Departure

20.00h: Arrival at Troon

Overnight stay in the port of Troon

 

Saturday the 25t of May:

From 07.00h: The guests leave the vessel

 

Prior to the journey on board of Thalassa you can choose to visit the Oban distillery, you can make your own reservation via the Diageo website: https://www.diageo.com This distillery is only a few minutes' walk from the Thalassa berth where you will be expected to arrive on board by 15.00h at the latest. Visits to the various distilleries are optional and at your own expense. Visits to the distilleries of Tobermory, Ardnamurchan, Jura and Arran are already organized, in Islay it can be determined in consultation with the guests which distilleries will be visited. Also for Ballycastle the program is not fixed yet and can be arranged according tot the whishes of the guests (if possible).

Day 1- Saturday- From 2 p.m. you can board the Thalassa at the harbour of Troon. After you have met the ship, the crew and the other guests the ship leaves around 17.00h towards Islay. At night we arrive in the port of Bruichladdich

Day 2- Sunday-Bruichladdich festival and crossing to Jura

Day 3- Monday- Jura, visit Jura distillery and then to Coal Ila where the actual whisky festival takes place. In the afternoon Thalassa sails to Port Ellen. Guests may choose whether to travel by land (bus or car) or sail along with the vessel.

Day 4 Tuesday-Port Ellen: the festival at Laphroaigh. It is also possible to visit other distilleries such as Ardbeg and Lagavullin

Day 5- Wednesday-Port Ellen. The festival takes place at Bowmore and Ardnahoe, accessible by public transport or by the rental car from the ship

Day 6-Thursday- Transfer to Campbeltown, afternoon tour at Springbank or Glen Scotia

Day 7- Friday-Transfer to Arran and then to Troon

Day 8 Saturday-between 06.00 and 10.00h the guests disembark in the harbour of Troon

TRAVEL PROGRAMME

Day 1 - Saturday - From 14:00 you can embark in the port of Invergordon on board the Thalassa. After you have been introduced to the ship, the crew and the other guests, the ship leaves around 17.00 in the direction of Wick. At night we arrive in this harbour.

Day 2 - Sunday - Visit the Pulteney Distillery and then head for Scrabster.

Day 3 - Monday - Visit the Wolfburn Distillery followed by a boat trip to Stronoway on the Isle of Lewis.

Day 4 - Tuesday - Bus tour of Isle of Lewis (Dun Carloway Broch, Callanish Standing Stones, Abhainn Dearg Distillery),

Day 5 - Wednesday - Crossing to Tarbert with a visit to the Harris Distillery after that we set course for Carbost (Talisker/Isle of Skye).

Day 6 - Thursday - Coast tour of Isle of Sky (Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle, Old Man of Storr, lunch at Sligachan Bar with 500 Whiskies)

Day 7 - Friday - Crossing to Toberney

Day 8 - Saturday - Visit the Toberney Distillery, then continue to Oban

Day 9 - Sunday - Visit to the Oban Distillery followed by a trip to Craighouse (Isle of Jura).

Day 10 - Monday - Visit the Jura distillery and then head for Campbeltown.

Day 11 - Tuesday - Visit to the Spark Distillery, followed by a crossing to Troon.

Day 12 - Wednesday - between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. the guests disembark in Troon..
